This post is all about books to read for business inspiration
It’s quite laughable to me how much I actually enjoy reading informative books. When I was young, I loved reading stories like ‘the babysitters club’. It inspired me so much, I started a small babysitters club in my neighborhood, sort of. I have just always had that entrepreneurial spirit. To me, books are just magical. Perhaps that is why I have written a few.
No matter what it is that I am going through in life, I enjoy reading books about it. Self help, spirituality, relationships, parenting, business, etc. Everything. I would prefer an evening in with a good book to a big night out, any day.
As of late, I have been on a major reading kick. It goes in and out for me. I recently discovered that my baby monitor works like a charm sitting next to me poolside while I am reading my book. Did you notice my beautiful stack of crystal jewelry I am wearing? Wink. Wink. There are several books that I truly think will inspire you to follow through on an idea or to take action on your passions whatever they might be. As I develop my new ventures like podcasting, jewelry making, etc I have turned to books to keep my inspiration high. I thought it might be helpful for you, too if you find yourself looking for something to read.
Quick story, a good friend of mine Arielle recommended that I read Big Magic by Elizabeth Gilbert years ago when it first came out. I rushed out to grab it and read it quickly but I just couldn’t get into it. For some reason it just wasn’t speaking to me. Years later, I read it and loved it. So, with everything, see how it feels for you. If it isn’t for you now, it might be later but each one of these books is definitely worth looking into.
The Glitter Plan by Pamela Skaist-Levy & Gena Nash-Taylor This is a really light hearted, uplifting and inspiring book. It’s good to pay attention to the fact that these two women have been able to remain partners for such a long time. More often than not, you see major solo acts. Lots of ego. I am always intrigued by partnership in business, so this is a book I am going to read again.
Crushing it by Gary Vaynerchuck. This book is so relevant to our time. It really speaks to how to build an online presence, no matter what industry you are in. He shares stories of others who have built wildly successful businesses using social media as a tool. It’s a MUST read. I literally have highlights on almost every page. It’s that goooood. If you don’t get motivated and inspired, I’d be very surprised.
You are a badass at making money by Jen Sincero. Oh, this book will get you. Listen, finances are an essential part of business, its important that your relationship with money is a priority for you. This read will help you to feel more comfortable with that and understand it a little bit better.
How to be an Overnight Success. Another light read, which is nice. The goal is a little inspiration while out by the pool, am I right? Anyway. This is about a woman who worked her butt off to launch a very successful skin care company and her stories are very helpful for anyone with a passionate heart for their creation.
The War of Art by Steven Pressfield. Now here is your lengthy read, if that is what you’re looking for. Here’s the deal, all of us have something creative within us. Yes, all of us. More often than not, we are just resisting our calling. Read this and drop the resistance.
Those are my top picks for inspiring your inner boss babe. I also suggest reading my book, Blissful Living and Style Your Mind workbook. Both books will help you learn to show up as your best help to aid you in creating your best life so you can thrive and enjoy your career! What books have inspired you? I would love to hear, I am always looking to add to my collection. XO
