Over the weekend, after the entrepreneurship conference, I really took some time to reflect back on the beautiful and rich conversations I had. Most women in that room approached me and admitted that their workspace wasn't depicting the level of career they truly desired. I've always been a believer that its essential to set up a workspace that inspires you, motivates, drives you to be the person that you want to be.
I always say to my clients, think of the woman that you want to be and design the space that she would want. Even if you can't afford the dream items you have, get the best that you can afford and don't purchase anything that you aren't in LOVE with! If you aren't in love with it, it will later be a mistake. Trust me.
As I have been setting up my new home office in Villa Noir, I found my dream desk. Check out my new black and gold beauty, thank you Nate Berkus & Target. I just have been looking for the perfect art for above my desk. Vision boards have always been my favorite thing for the office. They can help you keep focused on your vision and goals and get you to where you want to be MUCH FASTER! If you don't know how to create a powerful vision board, sign up here and download my free E-book, a guide to creating a vision board that works! You will also get some other fabulous freebies. So, here is the wall where I want said vision board.
My concern was that vision boards can sometimes be messy. My desk is in my new living room and I want it to be clean and pretty. I'm not a big fan of art walls but I think an art wall vision board could be completely glam and fabulous. See more examples in my post here. For this new vision board space, I want all matching frames and only images that I fall in love with. I want this art wall to tell a story of my business, my brand and my life. This is the first step in designing your life. Create the vision and step up your game to a professional looking art wall.
I love the look of shelves and matching frames all lined up like these. . .
A few rules for creating a beautiful and polished vision board for your office:
1. Pick a theme and stick to it. Black + White? All shades of blue and white? Mine will probably be black and gold with all black and white photos.
2. Keep it limited to images that inspire you. You want to emotionally connect to your vision so every single image needs to tell a story, evoke a particular emotion inside of you.
3. Let go of perfection. Just hang them where it feels right. Don't be too perfect about where they hang. I notice a lot of people will procrastinate until its perfect. Let go of perfect and allow your vision wall to be a process. I know mine will be.
I will be working on my office vision board this week. Stay tuned for updates. Follow me on Facebook to see the most up to date pics.
