needing. wanting. loving. {decorative busts}

As I was doing my research on faux fireplaces (don't ask me why...just super curious) I stumbled upon this gorgeous photo. Instantly the mirrored fireplace struck me, it's a very very cool example. After a bit more adoration of this space, I couldn't resist loving the beautiful bust sitting between the two chairs. Normally, I would think to place a small cocktail table between a pair of fabulous chairs. However, now, after seeing this incredible bust, I think next time I might try using something a little more creative like this. Super gorgeous piece...excellent style! Busts are so my new obsession.

Brilliant and divided art works

Deep purple velvet, gorgeous ikat-ish print pillows and this fabulous paneled, scenic art hanging...swoon-a-loon! Absolutely charmed by these amazing works of art that really are not your normal art at all, yet make the perfect substitution. They are charming and chic, I cannot get enough of them right now. The chinoiserie ones, so preppy and fun, just might be my favorite.

art + room {animal art}

gorgeous blue walls + cozy beige sofa + ritzy gold acccents + sexy cheetah painting =
perfection
So loving this room, the minute I saw it, I got inspired for something a little more masculine. One way to really dress up a masculine room is animal art. It's so right now and translates into almost any style.
Elephants are usually my favorite, but I am also loving birds, cheetahs and zebras too. I adore this flamingo...too cute.

Weekend Decorating Idea: creative wall decor

The weekend is here and I am so ready to get my decorate on. Especially after that photoshoot yesterday, I am just incredibly inspired. What is on my radar this weekend, putting my favorite things on the wall. I love really great wall collections, and the great thing about it is that it can be ever changing. There is something really invigorating about changing wall decor, it's an instant mood lifter. So this weekend, why not go to a local flea market, home decor shop or even your own closet and find some of your favorite things to display on the wall. Album covers, family photos, vintage art or even your favorite necklaces will suffice...Happy decorating!

art + room {my current art obsessions}

pink sectional + flamingo pillows + stark white walls + Slim Aarons photograph =
domestic bliss
The right artwork is to a room as the perfect belt is to an outfit. It's so necessary if you are wanting to convey some serious style. I love art. In fact, most of you don't know, before I went out and started my own business, I was working at an art gallery in Beverly Hills. It's extremely important for art to be personal AND stylish. It gives a room a bit of movement, art absolutely can lend itself to creating the mood for your room. So important. Lately, I am loving photographs and these fabulous finds...
We have all seen this gorgeous Elizabeth Taylor piece, and its pink! Hello. Totally decorista!
black fading into gold, the is the epitome of sophisticated chic...
I adore the way this butterly gives a fluttery feeling to the room, very whimsical.
Absolutely and I mean absolutely NOTHING says mad style like an Andy Warhol print.

How to decorate like a graphic designer...

Absolutely into the look of this home, it's a super gorgeous feature from Real Living Magazine. It really inspires me to see the homes of incredibly artistic and creative people. Ashley Haley is no exception, in her home she uses black, whites, nudes, and a mix of fun prints solid colors are big furniture. I love her how everything in the home has such a cool and hip graphic twist. She has really done of great job of pairing high's and low's, something not every gal can do. I guess graphic designers can have mad style too!

secret of domestic bliss #47... decorating with flowers

I don't know if many of you will remember this but remember the days when Laura Ashley reigned queen. I can remember as a young girl my mother decked out my bedroom with head to toe floral motifs.    I quickly found myself loathing floral decor...until recently. Is it just me or is the flower making a comeback? Lately I have been seeing beautiful floral motifs everywhere and layered up. Maybe its just that Spring is on its way and flowers are in full bloom! Either way, I am loving the ways of incorporating florals into decor. (like this room with blooms)Whether it be through art, wallpaper, fabrics, linens, or even just a simple bouquet...I am so ready for spring to be in full bloom!

If you have ever checked out Tricia Guild's work, then you will see what I mean, this woman is all about decorating with flowers. Her stuff is spot on!

Bliss in the kitch' & breakfast nook bliss

I truly believe that the kitchen is the heart of the home. On Saturday mornings, there is nowhere I'd rather be. This cute little grey kitchen just looks like pure happiness to me. I love the cute little ghost chair at the gorgeous wood table. Such a great mix of styles. The perfect compliment to a beautiful kitchen =
great breakfast nooks. Here are some that took my breath away...

Today I will be spending most of the day, sipping delicious coffee and working away at some projects on my computer. Lighting candles and a little music in the background...domestic bliss at its best.

Wallcolor Wednesday... signature decorista PINK

Pink is all the rage this year. It's everywhere you look... fashion, accessories and home decor. Hot pink is  The Decorista signature color so  I will always be a huge supporter of pink on the walls. True, most people will be intimidated by the color (especially the male population) but that doesn't make it any less worthy of being used. It always makes for a great accent wall and I hardly think it will leave you with a boring looking home. So, today I have corralled a post of beautiful PINK inspiration....

Home Tour: Jeff Lincoln's sophisticated in the city

Every once in a while, the New York Social Diary photographs the most beautiful Manhattan apartments. It is incredible how different each persons apartment is. I find it so fascinating that they can look absolutely stunning with very little square footage. Jeff Lincoln's manhattan apartment was such a nice little surprise to see on the site today.
I love the cream walls of this apartment. It really keeps it light, airy and fresh. In this city, sometimes you need a completely calm place to come home to. His window treatments are fun too. Stripes and a geometric valance...so chic. He has fantastic art, beautiful gold mirrors throughout and great furniture with great lines. A very sophisticated NYC apartment.
Not only do I adore the wall color in this dark, luscious room, I am a tad in love with the creativity on the art wall. So masculine chic.

art wall attractions

Last night I attended a very interesting art event. It wasn't an ordinary gallery showing, it was art on display in an upper east side apartment. Very fun. What was so interesting to me was the way that the art was displayed on the walls. The more art the better in this case, and it inspired me on the many different ways an art wall can work.
My favorite is this very streamlined and symmetrical look. So chic!

The Decorista tip of the day.... little bit of pink

Okay so most of us love a good art wall but we mostly see the same black and white look. I love this idea of adding pink matting to an art wall collection. It can pull together all kinds of different artwork for a really polished look. You don't need pink to make it work, blue, green or even orange will work...I adore it.
