Not your ordinary chair...

I think I am getting a little homesick. After all of this hurricane mess, I just really want to be with my family right now more than ever. Thank goodness Thanksgiving is just around the corner. I leave for Paris in 9 days and then fly home to Texas for Thanksgiving and my cousins wedding. It's about to get really hectic over here.
Having said that, what I am looking forward to the most is being home and having family dinners around the dining table. While my family is very stylish and appreciates good furnishings, I really wish they would get a little more snazzy with the seating....

Right now I am just over the moon for dining chairs with metal. You all recently saw my clients new brass + lucite barstools which are just so incredibly good I can't stand it. Metals are so in for seating right now I am just loving it. An upper east side client of mine and I recently did some chairs like these above. We found 6 vintage chairs like this and had them recovered in white ostrich leather (faux of course). They are so spectacularly gorgeous and glamorous and budget friendly, too!
I always love a good chair + banquet seating combo. So good.

style-icious Sunday {south of france serenity}

Life in NYC is fabulous...don't get me wrong, but sometimes I feel like I just need to take a nap. There is so much going on in the city and now that the weather is getting better I am dreaming of a nice vacation to the south of France. I'd love to take in the sights, the gorgeous weather and the absolutely dreamy decor. Elegant moldings, delicate details, ornate pieces, layers and layers of super luxurious textiles, and the most amazing views your heart could dream of...

office space of the day... photography makes the best decor

stark white walls + pink door + pink pouf + art books + granny rolly chair + colorful photo =
domestic bliss

Okay, I am in love with this office and that fabulous, fabulous photo. I think i have just decided, that while I love paintings (i even paint myself), photography is my most favorite form of artwork.

i love photography and how it brings out color in decor...

P.S. The new issue of Lonny is live!

A House Beautiful: Decorating with Healing & Barsanti

I'm sure most of you caught this One Day make-over in House Beautiful. I fell instantly for the use of the color purple (my favorite color). After this article, I knew I had to go check out the work of HB Home. Just as I had expected...I was extremely impressed. I love the uses of color, textures and patterns. Very chic. They have locations all over the east coast and I had no idea. Now I need to rush out the door and go check out the NYC showroom. Yay. Shopping!

See my picks from their incredible portfolio...
HB Home uses incredible chinoiserie wallpapers, gorgeous inlaid bone pieces, bright peach sofas, colorful pillows with vibrant patterns, graphic curtains, oversized ottomans, and beautiful lamps.

Wallcolor Wednesday... signature decorista PINK

Pink is all the rage this year. It's everywhere you look... fashion, accessories and home decor. Hot pink is  The Decorista signature color so  I will always be a huge supporter of pink on the walls. True, most people will be intimidated by the color (especially the male population) but that doesn't make it any less worthy of being used. It always makes for a great accent wall and I hardly think it will leave you with a boring looking home. So, today I have corralled a post of beautiful PINK inspiration....

Life in the city... clawfoot bathtubs

So, since being in NYC, I have totally forgotten that tons apartments in this city don't have bathtubs (like the one I am currently staying in) and its killing me. I am a huge bath girl, I relish in the art of bathing. Today, as I am on the search for my own apartment here in the city, my number one must have on the list is luxurious bath, I'm really hoping for a clawfoot one. I just think they are incredibly gorgeous and usually they will fill to the brim! Gotta love that.

all in the family...Susan Gutfreund decorates in Paris

I've been so busy keeping up with this NYC energy I have barely gotten around to my favorite decor glossies. I know I'm a little late but I am absolutely blown away by this winter's issue of Veranda. I truly believe that its getting much much better since Dara came along. I loved the Jennifer Lopez spread and the Hutton Wilkinson entertaining article was just gorgeous.
Interior Decorating is an art form that runs strong in my family so I also wanted to take a moment to appreciate the decorating style of my aunt, Susan Gutfreund, and her mentor/friend/decorator Henri Samuel and their beautiful spread. Together, they have created some of the most beautiful decor I have ever laid eyes on. This time they have decked out her home in Paris with panache (and a bit of soft glamour) and in this January/February 2011 issue, Veranda made note of it.
 It is love at first sight as you gaze your eyes upon the entryway's grandeur staircase. The magnificence doesn't stop there... in the main rooms, the dreamy walls are so soft and romantic, the perfect setting for the characteristically French detailed moldings. I love how the soft color palate allows the ornate and dramatic light fixtures to steal the show and the luscious greenery adorns the room with a perfect pop of color.
How about the charm of this dining room? Aside from the fact that it is beautifully ornate, it also has a sense of warmth to it, like you could sit here for hours over a wonderful meal.
This beautiful master bedroom is the perfect jewel box with gorgeous gold accents and lovely floral patterns.
I love the mix of muted reds and simple dashes of blue.

rooms that rock my world! my dream bedroom...

and I am absolutely in love!
The dark wall behind the plush headboard is the perfect compliment to the influx of bright light in the room. I am also enamored with beautiful + calming feminine hues of light pink and purple. It just tops the room off with a bit of elegance and romance. So dreamy, no?

Wallcolor Wednesday...sunny shades of yellow

Never underestimate the power of a yellow colored room. It might seem a bit much at first thought but yellow is jam packed with happiness. I think yellow can be beautiful when used with discretion.
Yellow is not for everyone but how grand does this gorgeous yellow entryway look in the first photo? I really think it works well here and with a dash of pink...its perfection. I also happen to adore this gorgeous and cheery living room via martha stewart. Very martha, very traditional, very palm beach...i dig it.

Now if all yellow on the walls is a bit too much for you...try going with stripes. They work too.

Style-icious Sunday {sophisticated birthday elegance}

sophistication.... elegance... femininity...
are everything I want to feel this coming week because its my birthday week and I'm turning the big 3-0!
I am absolutely so excited about this birthday and the coming year. My best girlfriends and I are heading down to Miami to luxuriate in the beauty of palm trees and tanning lotion. We love to play and shop on Lincoln and the Miami design district is always a fun treat. Facials, pedicures, and lounging in robes is our mission. It makes me appreciate all of the elements of sophisticated style that I want to experience this year. Ooh la la.
So in love with all things elegant and feminine....

Home Tour: a stylish + oh so fun bloggers' abode

I love decorating. I love the way people decorate. I love helping those who are in need of decorating advice. This is the reason I blog. Another reason I blog...the home tours.
I love seeing them + I loooooove sharing them with you all too.

This is the stylish home of Bijou & Boheme blog. I love the incredible sense of style. It has a sense of laid back glamour that is very easy to recreate yourself. That is key for decorating.
It's got little notes of parisian chic, some modern glamour and a bit of boho.
Enjoy.
Did I mention how much I adore all of the artwork in the home? Well, I do.
Take a peek at this stunning piece in the entryway...very clever + oh so cheeky!

rooms that rock my world! {NYC city girl glamour}

Oh my, the style in this room is such a fashionista meets decorista glam.
I completely fawn over spaces like this.
Chic gold pieces and layered textures marvel in this super stylish abode.
I could imagine living in NYC and after a full day of walking in 5 inch heels,
coming home to soft music, candlelight and this ubiquitous glamour.

fashion meets decor {get it right with fabulous fur}

extremely fashionable fur coat on christine centenera
meet
extremely fashionable fur blanket on delicious bedding...
oh my word, your chic-ness is intoxicating. I need all of you right now!
A lush + super soft faux fur throw is the ultimate accessory for the bedroom,
especially as we are fast approaching our oh so chilly winter nights.

The Art of Living...decorating ideas for the toilet tank

 It is always such a chore to figure out what to do with the top of the toilet tank, no?
Here are a few decorating ideas for your pearly white tank!
It may not be the most beautiful place of the home, but why not impress your guests and take the extra effort to make it look its best! It would be so very Decorista of you.

House Tour: David Collins

I'm thrilled to be starting off this week with a delightful treat for all of you who love color!
David Collins shares his home of fabulous proportions and colors.
Blues, purples and greens are the foundation of the color story...so very cool and relaxing.
He throws in uber modern gems yet keeps a traditional wit about the home.
I think its gorgeous and very, very well done.
 I have always loved the modern look of open staircases like these.
Is this not 'office space of the day' worthy? love.

I just can't ever emphasize enough "it's all about the details"!
Oh, I just can't take all this goodness! So, so good, no?

secret of domestic bliss #30...decorating with birds

Sometimes, decorating can be daunting when you are trying to create a welcoming + cozy home but you feel like your look is a little stuffy. The key is adding whimsical touches to your space. If you don't have a bevvy of whimsical items around and you appreciate being "clutter-free", try throwing birds into your decor. There are a multiple ways to incorporate this adorable and happy animal.
I personally love elephants, but lately, I have been utterly inspired to throw in a few birds to my apartment...and I must say, they absolutely make me smile!
See if you can spot the cuties...
