Decorista Trend Spotting: decorating with dramatic lighting

I am seeing from-the-sea decor so much lately and I am finding myself smitten with the look. Kimberly Ayers uses these gorgeous coral-like light fixtures in her decor. I strongly suggest incorporating this look through beautiful + dramatic light fixtures like these. Genius!

Vanessa de Vargas also killed it with this dining room! The light fixture is AMAZING and how about that gorgeous peacock wallpaper? I mean, we all know how much I just love birds.
The collection of mirrors...well I am just smitten with the look. love!

NYC city girl style...Carol Prisant

This is the apartment of writer and American editor of World of Interiors, Carol Prisant.
It's so interesting to see where writers live, such creativity and emotion in their decor. It is always a nice juxtaposition when  a writer, who writes about decor and interiors, decorates. I usually love the outcome because it is a mixture of both worlds, such a fun a different treat.

Her wallpaper is by Brunshwig + Fils, so fun, and it's her favorite. It works well with her collection of vintage floral art portraits and many antiques. I love the mint wall color in the bathroom, not something you see everyday. Ruffles, lace and beads are all over her bedroom and the funky lucite furniture adds a dash of modern to her romantic pad. With her collection of busts and cute monkey side tables, I will go out on a limb and say I think she seems like a super fun gal, no?

NYC city girl style...Olatz Schnabel for House Beatiful

Thank goodness for Paloma who scanned this fabulous spread, the second I saw it I fell hard.
I am absolutely obsessing over this glamorous bedroom right now. Hello my favorite colors purple + ever so dreamy light blue! The palm tree artwork is just bananas and that headboard...literally rocks my world. I just adore everything!
and how fabulous and chic does Olatz look? Perfection!

Woodson and Rummerfield...Architectural Digest ITALY

Ron + Jaime (2 of my most favorite people ever) were featured in the July issue of
Italian Architectural Digest.
I absolutely love international design magazines, the pages are so big and glossy.
They did an amazing spread of the Christina Aguilera project.
Check out their blog W+R Style File for the spread.

I am so glad the Rachel Zoe project is back. I love everything about the woman.

Great location, big windows, lots of greenery, it does everything for me!
While it is not quite my style, its extremely lush + luxe.
A killer combination! (I love all of the Missoni around her home. sigh!}
And the art, are you kidding, some of the best photography around!

NYC city girl style...from Harpers Bazaar

I am just loving this Jen Brill girl and her adorable manhattan apartment.
Oh how sometimes I wish I lived in NYC.
How 'effortlessly chic' is her pad? It is ridiculously pretty + plush! She is a photographer's agent and I can only imagine the incredible works of art that hang in her space.  Pair that with her velvet settee + sofa (my latest obsession)...and its just absolutely EVERYTHING I need in my life.
The decorator behind her space is Rafael de Cárdenas. the brains behind this gorgeousness,

When boho meets traditional interiors...

Remember this...

"If you are collector, let other people share your pride and joy. Don't sprinkle your collection out of sight in a meaningless jumble. Notice how groups of small objects, when they are well arranged, become important and effective. Remember that repetition is a form of emphasis. Collect what you will, but see to it that you arrange your hobby to its best advantage."

and now for some rooms that just absolutely rock my world!

Diane Von Furstenburg's style is on fire...

and she is working it out in the hotel design department. Sigh! Such a dream.
This hotel room is so gorgeous...as we all know I love the chic look of black meets white and bold pattern combo. So fresh.
She is designing 20 rooms in the Claridge Hotel in London.
Everybody who is anybody in the UK moonlights here, it's the ultimate 'must-stay' for the European jet-setters. How fabulous to stay here, let alone design here, no?

The Art of Living: I am woman!

I don't know what it is right now but I am completely attuned to the art in the world.
I am drawn to extremely feminine art...especially nude female portraits and photography.
There is something very mysterious and romantic about women in art, I am often drawn to the story behind the piece the most. Who the woman in the photo is and what her life was like at that moment.
I love being a woman and I love feeling feminine and art like this is just so beautiful!
