The Decorista Trend Spotting...industrial revolution

The time is coming and the industrial chic look is taking over the world of decor.
Its very winter-friendly and is what I imagine London and Scandinavian homes to look like.
I quite like the look of worn leather and exposed metals, I also love weathered wood in any space. It is the perfect look to work with the harshness of metals.
The photo above really gives an essence of the "industrial revolution" (my term for the look) type of decor that I am drawn to. Ochre and Halo are two shops I suggest for shopping for this look.
What I really love about this look is that it can translate as an addition to any style of decor through really fantastic pieces. Take for instance, this gorgeous industrial chair, it could totally go in a glamorous room if done the right way, of course.

bliss in the kitch'...dark, dreamy and delightful

I am really inspired by the majestic essence of this kitchen right now. As fall weather is coming around, I love the look of rich woods in a kitchen. It's has a very winter cabin feel that entices you to light the fire and whip up some hot cocoa. What better than to sip your warm drink whilst gazing at colorful & lovely accessories that abound? Jewel tones, pretty pinks meet sparkles & gloss in this gorgeous breakfast room. That's about as close to cabin as this LA girl is getting anytime soon.
Oh, how I miss the south...sigh.

NYC city girl style...from Harpers Bazaar November 2010

This is the West Village apartment of Vanessa Traina.
Among her list of many credentials, she is a freelance stylist, Louis Vuitton model, Chanel Ambassador and also the daughter of Danielle Steel, the romance writer,
(how fabulous is that?).
It is incredibly chic. I just love taking a peek inside the homes of fabulous supermodels.
Ever so chic and stocked with one-of-a-kind vintage items, this apartment astounds me. I can only dream of walking into a closet like hers full of exotic furs, chanel bags and coveted heels. Then making my way over to my delicious bar cart adorned with vintage Gucci glassware.
I simply can never get enough of looking at apartments like this.

notice the Vintage Louis Vuitton trunk? Gorgeous!

Inspired! decorating for the fall

There is something very magical about Sunday mornings during fall.
Fall is arguably my favorite time of year.
For some, summertime is for romance, but for me...my romantic mood blossoms in the fall!
Sweaters come out, snuggling in ugg boots, time to get the fireplace going, football season (I am from Texas after all) and most of all the chill in the air, it's all about getting cozy!
Something about it just warms my heart.
I especially am always drawn to the colors of fall...so gorgeous.
I'm inspired to rearrange my living space when the seasons change and this season in no exception.

Deep purples, warm textures, fairy lights, and candle light dinners blend effortlessly together to create the sublime essence of the fall season...behold the magic.
hope you all were inspired...
happy sunday my amazing readers! love to you. xoxo

Perfecting the art of displaying your art is something that is learned over time.

Secret of domestic bliss #32...decorating with perfume bottles

Never underestimate the power in the beauty of your favorite bottle of perfume.
When styling your vanity or your bathroom,
cleverly display your favorite fragrances to achieve that magazine-chic look.

When I go thrift shopping around LA,
I always keep an eye out for beautiful vintage perfume bottles to add to my collection.
Mixing vintage bottles with your favorites is essential for an extra glamorous effect.
They make for such a fabulous accessory, no?

bliss in the kitch'...the ultimate in grey walls

Reading one of my dailys, Shelter, my heart skipped a beat the moment I saw this image.
The gorgeous grey walls, white open shelving, dark wood island, glossy white chairs and deep teal fridge. To top it all off a sweet peacock gracefully sits on top.
Swoon!

Want to see more of the magical home? Keep reading.
Peachy pink accents are the perfect offset to the all grey home. I am just mad about the look.
The bedroom and closet are so lush and dreamy.
A painted red console is perfection for the dream dressing room!

REFRESHING + INVIGORATING
White walls with pops of color is an absolute treat.
It truly brings meaning to the art of accessorizing.
Bright light and a home full of nostalgic photography...it's such a dreamy feeling.
Makes me dream of that early part of the weekend mornings in the summer, full of joy (and coffee!). Perfect for creating those beautiful family memories!

The Art of Living...decorating ideas for the toilet tank

It is always such a chore to figure out what to do with the top of the toilet tank, no?
Here are a few decorating ideas for your pearly white tank!
It may not be the most beautiful place of the home, but why not impress your guests and take the extra effort to make it look its best! It would be so very Decorista of you.

Inspired decorating...mexican romance

I am always inspired by different cultures and the emotions that go into the surroundings.
Being that I am part latina, I love anything and everything with a little bit of culture.
These gorgeous rooms conjure up feelings of 'mexican romance' to me...
I am just smitten with them.

Makes me really want to have one of these Vintage Bolivian Rugs from Furbish, stat!
They are gorgeous, no?

Decorista Trend Spotting: decorating with dramatic lighting

I am seeing from-the-sea decor so much lately and I am finding myself smitten with the look. Kimberly Ayers uses these gorgeous coral-like light fixtures in her decor. I strongly suggest incorporating this look through beautiful + dramatic light fixtures like these. Genius!

Vanessa de Vargas also killed it with this dining room! The light fixture is AMAZING and how about that gorgeous peacock wallpaper? I mean, we all know how much I just love birds.
The collection of mirrors...well I am just smitten with the look. love!
