Above sofa swag...

As I am prepping for a big photoshoot in my apartment this coming week...
I am trying to make sure that the area above my sofa looks perfect! To be sure I have the right look going on, I am seeking out some of my favorite looks and getting every possible idea lingering in my head. I know one thing for sure it must be over the top glamorous!
First things first, gold is a must. I have an amazing pair of gold candleabra scones that I adore. That's where we are starting from. Then I will put maybe some fab artwork between the stunners.
I also love this pair of mirrors and the tall black lamps...oh, it looks so good. In fact, this room makes me rethink my whole perspective...

daydreaming in black + white...

As much as I love color, I love black + white...
It's the perfect combination because it is the ultimate contrast. Lately, I have been noticing, I am attracted most visually to high contrast. Right now, I am imagining my dream home and Carolina Hererra's Manhattan showroom would be my home entryway. Fabulous, no?
I adore this room and how perfectly the sofa size sits in the window nook.
This living room...so simple yet so chic with just moments of black and white.
Now this bathroom is loaded with color, but the real goodness comes from the pops of black and white. Chevron and stripes. Such a bold little combo...and who wouldn't want this bedroom wallpaper?

ON THE HUNT for a Red Chandelier

I just love putting the finishing touches on a clients space...
The final touch for this particular room is going to be a red chandelier but I am in search of just the right one. It's going in a living room with deep navy walls and bright white accents. It's a modern glamorous version of the July 4th color palate, how fitting for this time?
Murano glass ones are usually my go to, but this time I want something unique. Perhaps something vintage with a little bit of a twist. Maybe a red bamboo one or something with some dimensions and swag, like a Tony Duquette masterpiece. He is one of my decor idols after all.

I love how these red chandys give a little pop of exotic edge to these rooms, its like a cherry on top of a perfectly decorated sundae.

A few thoughts on entryways...

I've been working on my entryway lately. It's so small so I really have to make sure I use the space very wisely. I already have some fab wallpaper and my gorgeous Sophia Loren print hanging, but now I need to style it up...

I love a gorgeous console piece. A stand out piece is always a good way to go. I also love the idea of a bench or a little seating, a perfect place to take off and put on shoes.
I always love a good basket set. In NYC we are always looking for some extra storage so baskets can be of assistance.
My final thought. A mirror is another great addition to an entryway. A final place to check your outfit and make sure the makeup is looking right. This last one might be one of my favorites. So playful and fun, I just love it.

CURRENTLY CRAVING: Lindsay Adelman Lighting

I am pretty certain that by now I should know my own style, and I do.
I have a specific look and taste that I usually feel is very "me". However, sometimes I find something that is so not my style and absolutely can not get enough of it. Case in point. These incredible modern light fixtures by Lindsay Adelman. I don't know, something about them just gets me every time.
They are different looking from most light fixtures that you see. I would actually assume these would be used in a restaurant or hotel, but they look so dang fresh in a more traditional living room or perhaps a chic dining room. Wherever they end up they are sure to look fab. Now I just need to get my hands on one.

CALIFORNIA DREAMIN'

Every time I return to visit my beautiful city, Los Angeles, I swear I turn into a little glam bohemian...
It's only for a few minutes before I get my business hat back on but when I'm in it I feel like I'm in the middle of a daydream.
There is just something about relaxed glamour, its so effortless and calming. Gazing outside (or inside) at beautiful palm trees, lush greenery and golden sunshine. It just makes me in such a good mood. The interiors look magical when white with muted neutral tones making such a statement. Outdoor eating has become almost an every meal affair, my goodness I'm loving this.
Woods are highlighted and encouraged as well as outdoor elements like shells and metals.
I'm not missing NYC one bit and soaking up all of this pretty business.
The dream ends after the weekend though. I'll be back to the city and back to my busy-ness!

LIVING IN LONDON...ELLE DECOR APRIL

Although the sunny skies are incredibly amazing, I do sometimes dream of what it would be like to live in London. Thank God for amazing shelter publications that take us inside the most incredible homes of other countries. This cover of the new Elle Decor seriously stopped me in my tracks.
Deep navy velvet sofa, gray grasscloth walls, that gorgeous ornate gold mirror, and that rug! This London flat is just beyond....

I seriously cannot get over the brass and glass used in the space. (very similar to the pieces I'm currently placing in my new clients' home, so art deco glam) I also love the designer and his choice of artwork. Very sexy.
I am such a fan of this black and white marble mixed with the burled wood looking finish and those sconces are so gaudy glam. I just think this work is brilliant.
Check out the marvelous gold feet on the dining table. Pretty pops of yellow and brass complete the look and take the traditional decor to a whole 'nother level....

Wallcolor Wednesday: A pretty little green room...

After a day of being out in the streets walking around I am just overjoyed that spring weather is finally arriving to the city. It has me dreaming of the most bright and vibrant colors on the walls. Especially the color GREEN...

The perfect touch of pretty femininity...
A touch of modern chic...
A touch of history...
A touch of traditional...
And a baby touch of masculine...
