Over the weekend I ran into an old friend I knew and we discussed the ever evolving conversation of what its like building a new home. In an area like Austin, it seems as if everyone is either renovating or building new. Which makes our industry so much fun right now, there is so much going on.
Something that I always like to do when working with a new client is really get to know the person. There has been a few times where I have gone as far as looking into their birth chart to see what aspects of their personality they need to harness and really nurture to thrive in their lives. This particular client was telling me about the struggle of choosing colors for her new home. She was feeling tired of the grey and white color palette everyone else has around her.
As a huge Feng Shui aficionado, I love the conversations about using color in the home. So, I felt called to do a series of blog posts dedicated to the colors you can use to really harness blissful Feng Shui energies. A lot goes into this work but I will keep it simple for the sake of keeping things easy to read around here.
THE ENCHANTING WORLD OF DEEP BLUE
Blue is such a majestic color when it comes to energy at home and there are so many gorgeous shades of blue. It is considered to be calming and nurturing. A great color to use in a room when there is any sort of healing going on (think break ups, difficult relationships, chakra balancing, going on a diet, etc) Surrounding yourself with deep blue will supply the energy of wisdom and serenity, you won't have to go to a sacred temple to heal, this color will give you that support.
Rich, dark blues elicit the feelings of abundance and nobility while also promoting divinity and truth. If you are feeling a lack of these things in your life, you may want to add some deep blue. The way you can tell if you need it, is if you are attracted to it for some reason. Everyone goes through different phases in life, different seasons. You should take notice of your instincts and intuition and choose colors that you feel drawn to. As they say "trust your gut, it knows whats up". Stay away from following trends or choosing colors based on other peoples homes. That's key to a blissful home.
WATER ENERGY IS LIKE THE DIVINE FLOW
Adding the color blue is adding the energy of water to your home. When you live your life like a water flow, you are not obsessing over where you are going. You are calm and peaceful—because you are certain you will get where you want to go.
You will enhance:
Your ability to be receptive to what life has to offer, even if it looks different than what your mind would like it to be.
Your ability to let go of fear and trust in yourself, others and God
Your ability to rest, relax and retreat inward.
Your ability to let energy move through your body, even if it feels unpleasant sometimes, like sadness, anger or pain.
Art is a great way to add a color to a space if you don't have any color because its easy to transition around the home based on your needs. So look for art with colors that feel good to you.
They say adding deep blues to the bedroom is a fantastic way to promote a better, deeper nights sleep. Why not try a gorgeous deep blue headboard or velvet pillows?
