Tablescape Tuesday...THINK PINK

This summer, I have been stocking up on all the fun entertaining items
that I can get my pretty little hands on. For some reason I have just been really drawn to hot pink, shocking I'm sure. I have some upcoming photo shoots this week, doing a few rooftop entertaining looks and I found the perfect place to shop for these things...C.Wonder. Aside from flowers bringing the color, the store is jam packed with colorful, vibrant and on trend items that will really give my tabletop some personality.
A few items I suggest...

This ikat tray has great shades of pink, red and orange that will match a lot of different looks.
I love gold and I love bamboo so this bamboo salad set is perfect for salad and the gold bamboo setting will make everything look so much more glam.
I love the look of mixed glassware. So these chevron low glasses  go perfectly with these pink neon tumblers for some personality.
I always start with napkins rings and then choose the napkin. I adore these  chain link napkin rings and I think they would mix perfect with this ikat napkin.
You have always got to throw in something unexpected and I adore this lobster bottle opener
These cute white foo dogs mixed with some candles and flowers could be a cute centerpiece.
Also, pineapples are good luck so I would suggest grabbing a few of these pineapple stirrers for some extra fun in the sun.
HAPPY SUMMER ENTERTAINING!

Tablescape Tuesday: pink and green

There's a new color combination that killing me softly right now...
and its this gorgeous deep green and milky light pink with hints of gold. It's so beautiful I can hardly contain my excitement. It caused me to literally hit up my local antique spots for some colored glass. I need to recreate this look for an upcoming spring brunch I'm having at the apartment.

Tablescape Tuesday...ringing in the new year right

First thing to do in the New Year...throw a fabulous holiday soiree. The first big meal of the year is always a reason to celebrate and this year is no exception. How fitting would it be to celebrate with shades of Emerald, the color of the year! I am completely crushing on this gorgeous tablescape with hints of gold, emerald and black + white stripes...

Originally this chic little get together was for a baby shower, but I happen to think the look would work perfectly for a NYE brunch to celebrate the new year. Simple flowers and a toast of champagne and orange juice are definitely a must.

Tablescape Tuesday: Glam Factor with Kelly Wearstler for Vogue Daily

Ms. Kelly Wearstler outdid herself for a recent article on Vogue Daily. She dreamed up and imagined her perfect dinner party including a star studded guest list. She customized each place setting and chair to fit their personality. I swear, she just takes creativity to a whole other level. Loving this glamorous madness...

The chairs of course are killing me softly. Each one is so modern and sexy. I can't help but dream of those white and brass ones in the background for my very own home. The touches of gold are just insanely good. Don't you think?

Tablescape Tuesday...BLACK + GOLD

I am just a sucker for black, white and gold together. Eddie Ross, a good friend and extremely talented stylist has inspired the entertainista in me. I am dying to recreate this look at an upcoming dinner party. My favorite part of his styling magic is that he always incorporates vintage treasures. The white milk glass against the black looks so chic and touches of gold just complement the look so effortlessly. The final touch is the monogrammed napkin which is essential for any sophisticated dinner party...

Tablescape Tuesday: summertime soiree with blue + white

Blue + white china is completely classic and will always work in any kind of situation. When in doubt of what to do for a summertime tablescape, this look will ALWAYS be effortlessly chic...

I have been collecting blue and white pieces forever, so keep your eyes out and when you spot something grab it. If you are into entertaining, or even if you aren't, I totally recommend keeping a collection in your home. You never know when it might come in handy. You can throw some flowers in the vase for an easy centerpiece in a flash. No matter what color you mix with, it's always in season

Tablescape Tuesday: bright blooms

This spring all I can think about is beautiful brunches on the rooftop. Nothing is more blissful than sunshine and a lovely afternoon with friends. What makes for the perfect table setting in spring are bright, beautiful and colorful flowers. Arranged in all different sizes, shapes and colors they just brighten up even a monotone place setting. Flowers are the ultimate treat for springtime delights...

Tablescape Tuesday: red + pink are the colors of LOVE

I just love Valentines day because everything around is pink + red and I love those colors together!
So, for me, entertaining on this very special day is an ultimate treat. I just love using + mixing the colors of LOVE...

HAPPY VALENTINES DAY MY SWEET, SWEET READERS.
In the words of Whitney Houston (God rest her soul)...
I WILL ALWAYS LOVE YOU!

Tablescape Tuesday...FRENCH + FLORAL

Over the weekend I did a lot of vintage and thrift store shopping which is one of my favorite hobbies. The only thing that breaks my heart is that I can't buy everything that I adore. I am constantly finding myself in love with dishware and beautiful glasses that I have to put back on the shelf because I have no room for it....
As I think to myself how lovely these treasures would look on a gorgeous Parisian inspired tablescape, I quickly come back to reality and realize I don't have a long table like these gorgeous ones. Sigh.
Now I could perhaps get away with something smaller like this...

tablescape tuesday...elements of entertaining with glam gold

Each year as the new year begins I get so excited to start afresh with everything, including a new age. My birthday is 8 days after the new year, so it always feels like turning one year older is a whole new slate, a whole new chapter of life. This year I want to be super low key, but this tabletop seriously has me reconsidering and having a glam birthday dinner like sasha's pretty inspiration...
ELEMENTS OF GLAM GOLD TABLETOP STYLE:
Wouldn't this just be the most gorgeous birthday dinner setting???

tablescape tuesday: back on black

In the midst of all this Christmas cheer, I haven't forgotten about an upcoming NYE holiday too.
I am getting so excited to ring in 2012 and my brain is all on black and white for this upcoming new year. I'm thinking black sparkly dress, white ostrich leather shoes and white nails. So, for tabletop I am envisioning a similar theme for the tablescape. Here are some clever ideas...
All black is so rich and luxe, no?
The toile tablecloth keeps it uber preppy...
Get these chalkboard cheeseboards to use as placemats for your tabletop and have some serious fun!

Tablescape Tuesday: the decorista bookshelf

Holidays are for entertaining, dinner parties and creating fabulous home decor. As most of you can tell, I love the internet, but lately, I have been pulling inspiration from some of my favorite books and wanted to share them with you...
I will always love entertaining and home decor books. I love the big pictures and holding the books in my hand, turning the magical pages and I even love the smell of the fresh printed paper. Sitting on my sofa, having my coffee and tearing through these delightful pages...such domestic bliss!
If you need some tabletop decor inspiration or just want to look at pretty things, GET THESE...
they are my most favorite.
(do you have any books you LOVE? If so, leave a comment and let me know, would love more!)

Light X Design -- Bentley MeekerI was floored by this book that covers the portfolio of lighting design guru Bentley Meeker. I have never seen such amazing entertaining photos in my life. WOW!  The basic premise of how to light any space is illuminated here by a top expert. He shows  P Diddy's 40th birthday party, and the wedding of Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta Jones. His impressive portfolio is sure to please the art, interior design, and professional and novice party planners alike.

Design for Entertaining -- Preston Bailey- This man rocks my world. He created this ultimate sourcebook guides the reader through the event planning process--from picking a theme, setting the mood, and transforming the space to details such as flowers, lighting, and table settings.

Inspired Wedding -- Matthew Robbins'- I am maid of honor in a wedding in Feb and am obsessed with this book by Matthew Robbins, Martha Stewart’s right-hand wedding expert. He approaches each wedding design with an object that the couple finds meaningful, and in this inspirational guide, he shows you how to do the same. I love it.

Flair -- Joe Nye- Who doesn't love this JOE NYE? He is a master at style. Everyone I know refers to this book at least once for entertaining inspiration.

Fabulous Parties- Mark Held- Packed with advice and inspiration from three of LA's most popular party planners. The relationship between food and flowers is clearly shown in this book with amazing photographs and will totally inspire the florist in you.

Simple Stunning Parties at Home--Karen Busen- I absolutely LOVE this book. It breaks down the art of having parties at home into one jam packed guide. With easy to do DIY projects, it can help you make the perfect tabletop decor for your next event.

Tablescape Tuesday...how to decorate for a party without flowers

Even though winter is steadily approaching, {way too fast for my comfort}...
the weather outside in NYC has been just delightful. I am secretly wishing it would stay like this forever. Which is why I am still pulling inspiration from outdoor soirees, another rooftop dinner in the works perhaps? It's time for me to get planning.
Right now, I am loving tablescapes with little to no flowers. Sometimes, flowers aren't at hand and you have to make something else work.
Your best bet? Natures finest! Branches look lovely in this tall vase...there is something very fresh about sticks and luscious greens. Oh, and how about these crystals? So incredibly chic yet earthy all at the same time.
I really enjoy hurricanes with big white pillar candles. It's very easy to create and when bunched in groups of large amounts, looks stellar!

tablescape tuesday: luxurious situations

With the holidays quickly approaching, I found that some tabletop planning is essential.
I have found one item with major impact that I LIVE for...

Incredibly gorgeous gold flatware!
It's rare to see gold forks, knifes and spoon on a tabletop because most are in silver. However, when you do see the richness of gold flatware on a table, it feels instantly LUXE.
Back when I did a photoshoot for Adore Home Magazine, we put simple, chic, gold flatware like this and it just perked up the rest of the table to the next level.

So, get your own gold this holiday season for some serious style!

tablescape tuesday: getting to thanksgiving tabletop ideas

martha stewart
I can't believe its already November...
I feel as if October just flew by and its already time to start preparing for Thanksgiving. This year on my tabletop I am all about elements of nature...wood, linen, anything that resemble what the earth is all about. You all know me though and I wouldn't do anything without a little glamour.
So perhaps adding bits of gold would make the perfect addition to my very au natural tablescape. Don't you think?

Tablescape Tuesday: DIY decor ideas for a glam halloween tabletop

I absolutely love throwing theme dinner parties...
Sometimes there is nothing more fun than creating a super over the top tabletop. I recently worked with IVILLAGE on a halloween party article and it really inspired me. Halloween is one of those holidays you can get pretty wild. I am a huge fan of keeping a consistent theme and skull plates are such a cute and easy way to pull the look off.
Making glitter pumpkins is a super fun and crafty thing that adults and kids can enjoy. For some really fun + glittery ideas visit this crafty site.
Finally, I always love monochromatic candy in apothecary jars. There is something so stylish and fun about the look. Black and purple candy keep it very creepy.

tablescape Tuesday: centerpiece creativity

For me, the key to success with a dinner party is....
CREATIVE CENTERPIECES!
I just love to be inspired by unique and different looks for the decor on the table. Flowers are always beautiful of course, but adding something unique to the center of a tabletop can be a great conversation starter!
Candles always provide seriously romantic lighting and a beautiful glow on a budget!
Discoballs aren't just for holidays...they can be the perfect accessory for a girls night dinner party.

Tablescape Tuesday: the right lighting

There is nothing more that I love that a perfectly decorated tablescape...
However, one super important factor that can make or break your tabletop decor is the right lighting. You must have the lighting right, not only must it be pretty to look at, it must also be the right amount of light to enjoy a meal, have a good conversation, etc. In my humble opinion, chandeliers are the perfect way to jazz up your dining room...they are just so beautiful!
I am also in love with the look of the long light fixture atop a long dining table. Very chic.
While my heart belongs to pretty chandeliers, I can get down with these drum shades too!
