Los Angeles Chic: the Standard Hotel on Sunset

I am spending my Memorial day here at this hotel pool.
The Standard Sunset is gorgeous. I love the decor.
The food isn't bad either.
The best part. I can walk here from my house.
Happy Memorial Day everyone!!!

Home tour: Charlotte + her blissfully blue pad.

I don't know if you have noticed recently but blue is becoming my biggest design addiction.
My eye has been so drawn to homes with hues of blue all throughout the home.
Blue = Bliss.

This particular home I have been loving lately is from the May 2010 issue of LivingEtc.
I haven't seen it anywhere on the net and have been dying to share pics of it with you.
It's the home of a sweet girl named Charlotte and her man.
I absolutely love the ways they have used blue all over the home, even the kitchen.
And for my fascination of blue + pink, they have placed hints of the pretty color in the perfect places.
I adore this home tour!
How fun is this cabinet covered in blue zebra wallpaper. so very decorista!
I know its hard to see, but in the bedroom they painted the walls a very pale light blue and went bold with the bedding. I think its perfection.
I apologize for the poor photo quality...one day i promise i will buy a better one. ;)

a mediterranian mansion: Lenny Kravitz former Miami home tour

Who doesn't love a good Lenny Kravitz song...hello American Woman.
I am a huge fan, especially now that I have seen this gorgeous Miami home that he used to live in.
Visions of white and hints of nature surround this enormous Florida estate.
Nothing is chicer in Miami than the color white and fabrics swaying about.
The textures in the home just scream, "walk around barefoot" and "kick back and relax".
You can't beat that...It's perfection.
{All I need is my bathing suit and a sundress and I am SO there}

Hope you guys are enjoying your Memorial Day weekend!

my Zgallerie Casablanca lanterns + my patio

Yesterday I posted about my patio, because I have been spending my days there.
Right after the post, my package from Zgallerie arrived and I finally got my casablanca lanterns I have been eyeing ever since I saw them in ashley tisdale's home tour.
How perfect do they look on my patio...I love the green so I changed a few things around since you last saw. My boyfriend also gave me this cute little table he found at a vintage store long ago.
I did lots of cleaning + spray painted it Spa Blue and now its the perfect host to my glass that I love.

where I am spending my memorial day weekend

I am not on a glamorous vacation. Even though I wish I was.
I am busy working on projects and getting things together, lots to do!
However, I am spending lots of time at pools + having relaxing conversations on my patio.
So relaxing and fun...how adorable is my cute little blue glassware that I found while in San Diego?

secret of domestic bliss #23... decorate with your magazines + books

If you are like me and a self professed "design nerd", you probably have more books and magazines than you know what to do with. I mean, we all love a good bookcase filled with tons and tons of fabulous books, but what happens when you run out of room and places to put your
treasured reads....stacks and stacks of books + magazines.
My mom used to sneak in my room and throw them all away so when I finally moved out on my own I started to keep every single one...you can imagine I have quite a collection.
I have learned that It doesn't have to look junky (see mom!).
You certainly can make your home look chic and stylish with stacks and stacks of mags + books.
Don't you agree?
(this is my aunts house in NYC....and it looks uber sophisticated with piles of books)

(i love books in the kitchen...something carrie bradshaw would do)

loving how this blogger rocked the stacks look in her home studio...

or you can be really clever and do a little something like this. love!
