Masculine chic: a perspective on sofas

After talking over design with the males in my family over the holidays, I quickly learned that men love interior design, too. In fact, I never knew the men in my family had such decor opinions. As we looked through some of the design magazines I was devouring over the holidays, I learned this...
men absolutely go crazy over chesterfield sofas
I love masculine chic decor, it definitely inspires me as well as anything feminine and these gorgeous buttery leather chesterfield sofas are just winning me over.

Men do love design and the traditional Chesterfield is a fantastic, no-brainer piece for men. There aren't a ton of online options out there exploring the masculine side of interior design, which is why I started Japanese Trash -- http://www.japanesetrash.com -- I hope you will stop by and let me know what you think (from one Austinite to another!).

I can see why men like the look, but have any of them actually sat in one? Not exactly the most comfy for TV watching as you don't exactly sink into them. That being said... if I ever come across one at an antique store I will surely snatch it up!

You make such a good point and I will have to involve my other half in the decision next time (no more white couches!)

The first two pics of this post are giving me everything because black is my favorite color. I plan to do a blog post soon on black painted walls & the interiors within.

This is so true!!! My husband loves the look of those sofas. The tufting, the leather, the brass tacks...it is extremely masculine. Great post. I'll have to show this to him.

I can always count on my husband having no opinion whatsoever - until he has one. And then he's really involved in the design process. It seems to me the men in our lives love tufting. There's something about the combination of large scale and button tufting that strikes a chord with their energy. Seals the deal for both of us.

It works well for couples, as the Chesterfield is sexy enough for women, but brawny enough for a man to appreciate.

Love those pix!

And Katie - (@ModernOasis) you can definitely do black w/ Golden's so long as you steer clear of plush fabrics. Leather is a great option!
