The Art of Living...how to properly set a table

The weekend is here and the dinner party invitations are steadily coming in.
As always, I offered my help to each of the hosts and surprisingly I got asked a question...
Do you know how to properly set a table for a dinner party?

My grandmother taught me at the age of 5 and she always insisted a formal table setting at every single family occasion.
{I figured you guys might like to know the answer too...so here are my cheat sheets.}

This setting is perfect for intimate dinners with close friends...

Now if you are having a large party or just want to impress your guests this formal setting is for you!

A well styled table is a sure fire way to achieve harmony at a dinner party and ultimately create the perfect mood for you very own domestic bliss!

That top image is just dreamy + love this post! My mum was always very adamant about a properly set table at all times. I hate that some of these traditions have fallen aside recently.

Have a lovely weekend Ashlina!

my great aunts taught me how to set a table when i was little :)

also...a little helpful hint. make "ok's" with both hands. your left hand looks like a b and your right hand looks like a d. b=bread. d=drink. get it? helps me remember which side the drinks go on and which side the bread plate goes on :)

what a fun post, my grandmother was the same way. she out~did herself in preparing for having others over for dinners. she loved it! i do notice as i go out to dinner now and then that manners have somehow gone by the wayside. too bad, because it's actually a really pretty art form isn't it? ;) you are making me want to have a dinner party of my own. enjoy your weekend!

I've learned before, but thanks for the refresher!! I definitely needed one since I never set the table correctly. lol

I found a similar diagram that I put on my blog as well that I have found very useful in throwing properly executed parties =)
